Sea Dog Brewing Co.

MEDIA CONTACT: Dale Carrier, dalec@seadogbrewing.com, 207-299-8538

(Scarborough, Maine) Fred Forsley, co-founder of Shipyard Brewing Company and a partner in Sea Dog Brewing Company, announced today that Sea Dog has added a new location right off I-95 in Scarborough.

The “Sea Dog Brewing Co. Restaurant & Pub” is opening at 4:00 p.m. today, at the corner of Payne Road and the Haigis Parkway in the Cabela’s shopping center, the former site of Famous Dave’s Bar-B-Que. (photo attached) In a town that has very few late-night options, Sea Dog’s hours are 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., seven days a week. A ribbon-cutting organized by the Portland Regional Chamber will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 20th. Forsley said the general public is welcome to attend the celebration.

Sea Dog has gained a national reputation for its Bluepaw Wheat Ale., making good use of another famous Maine brand, Wyman’s wild blueberries. When pouring a pint, a Sea Dog bartender adds whole blueberries directly to the beer. The popular brew has enhanced the state’s stature as a hotbed for high-quality craft brewing. Sea Dog Brewing Company was founded in Camden by Pete Camplin, Sr. in 1993, and the Camplin family joined forces with Forsley in 2000. The company now has six Maine locations, two in New Hampshire and two in Florida.

“We are thrilled to welcome Sea Dog and its strong track record to a new home in Scarborough,” said Tom Hall, Scarborough’s town manager. “They are a great Maine brand, they know their market and their customers very well, and I think they’ll flourish in that spot. With ongoing growth of the business park at The Downs, that whole area of Payne Road is really thriving. This is a perfect fit.”

Manager Dale Carrier has been with the company for more than twenty years, supervising operations at popular Sea Dog locations on Western Avenue and on Broadway in South Portland. He said the company is known for its casual dining ambience and its creative pub fare. In Scarborough the atmosphere, beer menu and pub fare will match other Sea Dog locations but will also feature seasonal beers and regular menu specialties. Carrier said the location will use a full complement of technology tools to maximize customer convenience, including online ordering, a mobile app, and home delivery services like “2 Dine In” and UberEats. It will also feature the Mug Club, a very popular customer loyalty and rewards program operating across all Sea Dog locations.

“I think we’re looking at some pent-up demand in the Scarborough area, especially for the late-night option,” Carrier said. “People kept stopping by as renovations were going on, asking when we’d be open.”

Forsley had high praise for Mark Malone at Malone Commercial Brokers who brokered the deal. He also complimented the property owners, Barry, Greg and Ian Feldman, and Bill Pearse and Joseph Cloutier of Scarborough BBQ, LLC, owner of the former Famous Dave’s building.

“Everybody worked in collaboration to help bring the world-class Sea Dog experience to Scarborough, Maine. They enabled us to buy the property and invest in this community. I’m very excited about this,” Forsley said.

The phone number at Sea Dog Brewing in Scarborough is 207-289-6010. The street address is 1 Cabela Boulevard. The website is: www.SeaDogBrewing.com.
