SCARBOROUGH, MAINE (September 25, 2015) – The Scarborough Economic Development Corporation’s (SEDCO’s) Board of Directors announced the recipients of this year’s Outstanding Scarborough Business awards today. The awards will be presented at the corporation’s 30th Annual Meeting, taking place at the Black Point Inn on October 6, 2015 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

The 2015 Outstanding Scarborough Businesses include:

Town & Country Federal Credit Union-Administrative Offices: Project of the Year

Black Point Inn: Outstanding Legacy Business

Pine Tree Seafood & Produce Co.: Outstanding Small Business

Casco Bay Butter Co: Outstanding New Business

“It’s a pleasure to once again recognize outstanding businesses in Scarborough,” said Kevin Freeman, SEDCO Board Chair. “The Scarborough business community is so vibrant, that it is a real challenge to narrow the field down to just four businesses. This year we’re honoring businesses in finance, hospitality, manufacturing and retail. Each one of the businesses and their employees have made a difference in Scarborough this year.”

“The SEDCO annual meeting celebrates the energy and creativity of businesses in Scarborough,” said Karen Martin, SEDCO executive director. “It’s our way of thanking our businesses for choosing Scarborough and contributing to the community.”

The annual meeting program also features Danielle Ripich, President of the University of New England (UNE).  Martin explained that nearly 20% of Scarborough’s economic base is in the health care sector, making UNE’s focus on health care professions of critical interest.

Martin expects a sell out crowd again this year and is planning for more than 100 attendees.
