Advanced Education in Maine
University of Maine System. The University of Maine System features seven universities, eight University College outreach centers, a law school, an additional 31 course sites, and Cooperative Extension. UMaine offers baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral degree programs for students in Maine and out of state. The universities prepare students to be leaders in fields such as business, education, government, healthcare and other industries.
Maine Community College System. Maine’s colleges offer more than 300 courses of study and training programs that lead to associate’s degrees and career certificates. The community college system has seven campuses located throughout Maine and several off-campus locations.
Private Colleges and Universities. Maine is a home to a number of private colleges and universities that have degree-granting authority. Bowdoin College, Colby Collage and University of New England are considered as ones of the best schools in the U. S.
Maine Maritime Academy. Maine Maritime Academy is a public college located in the coastal town of Castine, Maine. The student population numbers approximately 950 students in courses of study in engineering, management, science, and transportation. Maine Maritime Academy was ranked the #1 Best Public College on Money magazine’s Best Colleges list released in August, 2014.
